- Description
-
The Black Student Union at Oregon State organized this and other protests against Brigham Young University because of Mormon Church policies denying the priesthood to African Americans. James G. Barratt (center, brown coat) worked in alumni relations and was Athletic Director at Oregon State University from 1950-1976. Student speaking to Barratt could be BSU President Geoffrey Brooks. Protestor signs read, "Join the Unracist Generation. Sever Ties with BYU" and "Dr. MacVicar, Bring Us Together. Sever Ties with BYU."
