Description
A group of Native American girls, identified as pupils of the Umatilla Indian School, are standing outside in the yard of a large house or building, possibly the schoolhouse. Each girl is holding an exercise bar to her chest and is wearing a dark school uniform consisting of a long-sleeved shirt, a belt or sash at the waist, bloomers reaching to the knees, long stockings, and flat shoes. Three buildings are in the background. The building directly behind the girls is a two-storeyed brick or stone building with a sloped roof, many windows, and a front porch.
