He is wearing Euro-American clothing. He is grasping the reins with his right hand. His feet are resting in the stirrups. A saddle blanket and sattle bags are on the horse. A tipi is behind and to the right of the man. A dog is near its entrance. A row of cottonwood trees is behind the man and the tipi. A treeless prairie with softly rolling hills is in the background.
