- Hand tinted image. An elevated view of Beijing's city gate with a high fortified brick wall. The focus of the image is a large, elevated traditional Chinese architectural building with multiple windows and dual curved roofs. The building is surrounded by a low stone fence, and an open courtyard with a walkway leading to an arched entrance, and stairway. Pedestrians fill the dirt street surrounding the building, either walking, or riding on rickshaws. Multiple buildings are visible in the background. In the foreground is a roof with five chimneys. Also visible in the image are horses, a constructions site, and utility poles.
