- Description
- Hand tinted image. A view of a temple in Shanghai with a curved tiled roof adorned with stone sculptures and ornamentation. Two serpent-like creatures with thin, curved tendrils extending from their nostrils are situated on either side of the temple roof. Between these sculptures is a carved lattice stone window. Below the serpents are two figurines in long, flowing garments. Situated in front of the temple is a bamboo table and bench. On top of the table is a sign with Chinese characters on its surface. On the right edge of the image five people gaze into the camera. A basket, round window, and a piece of material hanging on a thin rope is visible in the background.
