Description
A view of a flooded business district located in Portland, Oregon. A group of people stand in front of a large building that has signs on its surface that read, Morning Oregonian, and Lewis and Dryden Printing Company. Directly below a small triangular pediment near the top of the building is the date AD 1887. Men in small boats holding oars float on the water next to a tall wooden utility pole. A horse harnassed to a covered wagon stands in the water-filled street in front of the building. People are visible looking out of the arched windows of the building. On the front of the building the windows are covered with awnings. On the left side of the image is a small arched building that advertises the Portland and Vancouver Rail Road and Ferry Company. A man stands on a wooden ramp that extends from the doorway of this small arched building.
