The boy behind the girls is dressed in a coat, trousers, and shoes with a hole near the toes. The wooden desks have iron legs. The floor and wall of the schoolroom are made of wood. Mounted to the wall is a light fixture and a picture of an individual. A metal pipe that's connected to a wood-burning stove is visible in the background in front of a window whose shade is drawn.
