- More than 655,000 Iraqi civilians and soldiers have died in the war since 2003. Source: Johns Hopkins University, Lancet Journal October 16, 200. Some Current Iraqi body counts are now at 900,000 to 1,000,000. Each of the 120,000 white flags you see here represents at least 6 Iraqi people dead from the war. Each red Flag you see represents one of the nearly 4000 US soldiers who have died in Iraq.
