Page 40 of a journal article giving some history and financial information, as well as a great deal of construction detail, for the jetty built at the mouth of the Columbia River. The work of the pile-driver and use of railroad cars to carry construction supplies on the miles-long trestle are described. The photographs show the jet pile-driver used in constructing the trestle and dumping rocks after the "mattresses" have been lowered.
