- The article "Portland, Oregon," American Architect and Architecture (1883), identifies W. H. Williams as the architect for a residence and stable for R. Knapp. The article, "Improvement," Morning Oregonian February 24, 1884, identifies W. F. Mcaw, as superintendent of construction for this house. McCaw also installed a heating system, unique to Portland, which he knew from his experience working in Canada.
