Note
William Morgan moved to Portland in 1896 and became employed with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. In 1910, Morgan joined W. F. Fliedner and Joseph A. Boyce to form the firm of Morgan, Fliedner, and Boyce. The firm was responsible for several important Portland apartment buildings: the Fordham, Hanover, St. Francis, Hawthorne, Claypool, Knickerbocker, Columbian, St. Clair, Cecelia, Wallinton, and Grandesta. Morgan is also responsible for constructing many commercial buildings including the Morgan Building (1913), named for him, and the site of his office. This image was included in the documentation to support a nomination to the National Register of Historic Places, a program of the National Park Service.
