Percy Dwight Bentley was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on January 30, 1885. Bentley attended Ohio Wesleyan University and Illinois Institute of Technology but never graduated. He moved from Minnesota to Hood River, Oregon, in 1936, and then to Eugene, Oregon, in 1939, where he practiced until his death in 1962.
