The HEDCO building is named for a foundation whose president, Dody Jernstedt, graduated from the College of Education. Groundbreaking for the building took place on October 26, 2007, and on June 11, 2009, the public grand opening of the Education Complex took place. Thomas Hacker Architeccture (THA Architecture), Portland, Oregon, was founded in 1983 byThomas Hacker. Walker Macy Landscape was founded in 1976 by J. Douglas Macy, a graduate of the University of Oregon.
