Biographical Information
This quilt is a view of the pumice desert from Watchman Peak on the rim of Crater Lake. The quilt is constructed in layers: the back has a map of the geology of the landscape that appears on the top. The trees, rocks and roads are appliqued and painted, and over those are glued the vehicles that seasonally swarm over the area. Each vehicle has an aura around it, warning us of their danger to this incredible place. (Johnston, 1995)
