My paintings, although abstract in form, are based on direct observations from nature. "Marquesian Memory" was painted after a sailing expedition in the South Pacific. During the exploration of the Marquesian Islands, I discovered the grave of artist Paul Gauguin on the island of Hiva Oa. This painting is my homage to Gauguin's art and his commitment to nature.
