In my photographic imagery I seek to depict a serene solitude, a peaceful aloneness. Behind the camera, I am alone for that moment and in that moment find an inner peace. Boats was the image that inspired a fascination with wooden boats I have had for many years. Boats was a turning point for me photographically, not only in the discovery of a subject but also in composition, the line and form that makes up the image. My color photographs have a glowing mediatative quality with rich highlights of full color. (Hughey, 1991)
