Biographical Information
The act of painting, or the dialog between artist and canvas, is my primary concern. The painting itself serves as a record of the process, reflecting the ongoing decisionmaking that occurs from beginning to end. My paintings begin without a preconceived notion of the final structure. I respond both Intuitively and Intellectually to the visual events, letting the image evolve as the dialog takes place between the work and myself. The painting becomes an arena, or a stage, In which a tenuous balance/tension between order and disorder comes into existence. (Blakley, 1985)
