Biographical Information
This panoramic landscape was inspired by the area between Corvallis and Eugene, Oregon. The painting is a direct response to the artist's feelings about Oregon's constantly changing clouds. The artist embraces the atmosphere and expresses the music and poetry she feels through the paint. An on-going application process to develop luminosity and formal quality results in the painting- the artist's subjective respone to this environment. Janette K. Hopper, a native Idahonian, received her M.F.A. in painting from the University of Oregon. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Northwest. Presently, she lives and paints in Kennewick, Washington, where she teaches Art History, Painting, Drawing, and Design at Columbia Basin College, Pasco, Washington. (Hopper, 1985.)
