An impressionistic landscape rendering composed in greens, purples, and blues arranged in an organized chaos. The ground plane is separated from the clouded skyline by a solid, thick blue line across the horizon. This is one of two views of this artwork. Variations between duplicate images relate directly to original source materials.

LaVerne Krause, American painter and printmaker, was born 1924 in Portland, Oregon. She was awarded a tuition-fee scholarship at the University of Oregon where she undertook drawing and painting, studying with Andy Vincent, David McCosh, and Jack Wilkinson. She received her undergraduate degree in 1949, returning in 1966 to teach art, and by 1972 was a full professor. Professor Krause taught at the University of Oregon for 20 years until she retired in 1986. She died in Eugene, Oregon in 1987.

Spring Poetic is a celebration in color of the exuberance of the greens and blues of the spring season, a renewal of hope after the long somber winter. The sky is clouded but reflects the vigor of the changes going on below (Krause, 1982).
