Biographical Information
It has been 12 years since I started to live in the Northwest. Attracted to the beauty of nature in this country, I sketched and created many scenes of oceans, rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. I hope and dreamed of expressing this beauty of the nature by the old and traditional art technique called paper cutting. "Quiet Moment" expresses a sense of peace to the viewers. Many people were impressed and attracted to this work and they often comment on the beauty of the ocean waves in this paper cut. These interesting lines are a characteristic of paper cutting. Paper cutting originates from the image created by the unbroken lines. I'm very proud and honored to have this unique work selected to decorate the wall of the Eastern Oregon State College Loso Hall. I hope and pray that "Quiet Moment" will be loved and appreciated by the teachers, students, staff, and visitors of the college. (Sogabe, 1990)
