Biographical Information
"Since the lumber mill 'burners' have diminished greatly in numbers here in Oregon and no new ones are to be built, I wished to 'monumentalize' and celebrate their long presence on our Willamette Valley landscape. The monoprint which was printed by my own hand on an ancient (1900) Fuchs Long press I use for lithography in my own studio, was composed from an old sketch I had done in watercolor at a Willamette Valley mill in the Corvallis OR area. The sketch was done about 1950." Sandgren, 1991
