- "This portrait was the last of four exposures taken in LaVerne's backyard on a cold grey January afternoon in 1981. She had just returned from Portland at the end of winter vacation. LaVerne was a friend and a former teacher from my days at the UO art school, where printmaking was a second area of specialization (after photography)." Neevel, 1991
