Biographical Information
To Manifest represents the numerical progression of 1-9 and zero. Each panel conveys its number in a unique way, its essence, while playing its role in the compositional sequence. Zero, prehaps the most mysterious number, is seen as a nested egg on its own wall as the beginning or ending of the piece. / The study of numbers can be said to underlie scientific knowledge, the knowledge which is also the basis for modern nursing. Panels four and seven directly refer to the art of nursing as well. The use of the appliqued technique, fabricated a stitch at a time requires patience and attention to detail. The plants depicted bring to mind the herbal origins of medicine. / To Manifest invites curiosity, exploration, and aesthetic enjoyment. It is hoped that sudents, faculty, and visitors will all find new meanings and personal connetions to this artwork with each viewing.
