Calico is located in southern California outside of Barstow. All the photographs, except those of people, were taken by Jill Timm in 1973. The images were packed away until recently discovered. Using the latest computer imaging technology to publish this book, first all the images were digitized. The images of people were removed from their original surroundings so when overlaid images of the town, they would 'belong' to the Calico settings. The process used to print Calico Ghosts is GiclEe (pronounced gee-clay). By using archival paper and archival pigmented inks this digital printing process produces museeum quality images with a remarkably rich and wide color range. The cream colored paper is Hahnemuhle Allegretto and the translucent paper is UV Ultra. The cover paper is Cave paper with a hot foil stamped title.
