- Description
- This interior view of Mitchell Point Tunnel gives an idea of some of the physical difficulties met and overcome by the engineers who were responsible for the building of the great, scenic Columbia Highway. The tunnel has five open windows from which the traveler gains a splendid view of the river and the Columbia River Gorge for many miles in either direction. It is the only tunnel in the United States with as many openings and one of the few of the kind in the world.
