Description
This Internationally Famous photo taken by Benjamin A. Gifford, Internationally famous photographer of The Dalles, Oregon; shows Joaquin Miller, poet of the Sierras, exchanging reminiscences with Fred Benzer, the pioneer Civil War Veteran baker of Old Fort Dalles since its establishment in 1850; and taken in front of the Old Fort Dalles bakery in 1907. The lithographic work, on this famous photo, was done in Germany and thousands of copies and prints of this card were sold in the Pacific northwest up to about 1920. This rare piece of photographic art work is practically impossible to find at this date (1953).
