Putting on the Rooster - 1899One of the very remarkable church construction photos taken by Rev. Father Alphonse Bronsgeest in 1898-99; showing the old wooden Catholic Church constructed in 1862 and used until St. Patrick's Day 1899 when the first services were held in this beautiful new European type edifice.The Rooster (weather vane) was donated by Henry Herbring and placed on the steeple by Docite Heroux, one of the carpenters seen on top of the scaffolding in this photo. It was made in Germany and has been there 66 years (1865) which testifies to the fine workmanship of that period of time
