A Native American man, identified as Charley Whirlwind (also known as Dr. Whirlwind) of the Cayuse tribe, is standing in a forest clearing in front of a tipi. He is wearing a shirt, leggings, a necklace, a belt, and moccasins. His hair is tied in two braids. A blanket hider hangs from his belt.

An outside photograph of a man, dressed in his regalia standing on the side of a tipi. He has been identified as Charley Whirlwind. He is wearing his beaded cloth legging, Hider, beaded leather belt, and moccasins. The tipi, which is made of canvas, is behind him with the door next to the Pine tree, which is front of the tipi. In the back ground is a fence and brush.
