Railroad tracks lead through a meadow towards a low bluff. In the background are hills and mountains. There are fences on both sides of the tracks. On the left side, behind the fence, several tipis and a shed stand in a meadow dotted with conifers and leafless deciduous trees, and trees can be seen at intervals in the distance. The place is identified as "Near Thorn Hollow, Oregon".

An outside photograph of a campsite next to a set of railroad tracks. The photographer was standing on the railroad tracks when he took the photograph. On the left side of the photograph next to the trees is a campsite with two long tents made of Tule mats. There is an arbor behind the last long tent, and behind the arbor is a canvas tipi. In the far background is a Tule mat tipi behind the brush. There is a fence running along the railroad tracks between the tracks and the campsite. On the tracks next to the first Tule mat long tent is a crossing with a wooden fence up to the tracks on both sides of the tracks. There is one telephone pole on the right side of the photograph. There are mixed trees of Pine and Cottonwood trees. This campsite is in the Thornhollow area. The photograph is looking up the Umatilla River. Writing on the photograph is "Umatilla Reservation Near Thorn hollow Oregon."
