Civil Rank Badge of blues, white, and coral silks in long and short stitch and Peking knot stitch outlined with a stem stitch with a background of couched gold metallic threads. The Peking knot stitch is also known as the Forbidden Stitch as the meticulous effort required to master the precise exactness of the stitch was said to make one go blind. This Mandarin Square features a 9th rank Paradise Flycatcher recognized by two tail feathers with a single circle in each, and blue crest. The bird is surrounded by Buddhist emblems.
