- Civil Rank Badge of blues, white, and black silks in a tent stitch with a wound metallic thread background and a red sun disk. This Mandarin Square features a 6 th rank Egret recognized by the colorful feet. The Egret is surrounded by the emblems of the Eight Immortals. The square is trimmed with swastikas, which was a Buddhist symbol of luck since AD200. The swastika symbol is almost always shown clockwise in the Buddhist use of it. However, here they are paired facing clockwise and counter clockwise. Creating balance was very important in Chinese tradition._
