- Joseph M. Nolan (b. 1844 Ireland - d. 1917 Oregon) opened a store in Corvallis in 1884. In 1910 he moved his store to the Harding Building and became known as J. M. Nolan & Son and at that time he was the largest business establishment in Corvallis. His business closed in 1959.
