- This writer's life has been picturesque since the day she left her native Kansas and crossed the plains to Oregon as an infant with her parents in a two-seated carriage. She lived in Grand Ronde Valley, in Portland, on a farm on the Williamette, and in Oregon City, from infancy until 1888. It was then she moved to Bellingham, Washington, where she now lives. (1936).
