Sunbonnet of white cotton with quilted brim trimmed in ruffle pin-pleated into the brim; scalloped edges of ruffle are embroidered with tiny stemmed flowers; back crown is gathered into the brim/visor and gathered at the back where it is trimmed in self-ruffle; bow-tie at back of neck and ties at bow under chin.

Sunbonnets were worn by women who where traveling across country to settle the west. The sunbonnet was revived for this purpose of protecting women's faces while outdoors.
