- Close up showing seal of the University / the gates were hard made of wrought iron done / under Bert Brown Baker as director of the UPA for Oregon. They were made in a [unreadable] / in Portland under the direction of O. B. David- / son. This part of the work came under / the Art Project of U.P.A. Univ. Barker was / director of the Art. Project. / The material of the gates was furnished by contributions of the Oregon Dads and all the work was contributed by the U.P.A. / Work was began on the gates July 1938 / and finished Sept. 30, 1941. / They were dedicated and opened Feb 8, 1942.
