Record says this dress is from the 1970s, but it looks 1980s to me. Adele Simpson was known through the 1970s and 1980s for designing shirtwaists and chemise dresses. (DLF 2015) Adele Simpson worked at Mary Lee, then under her own label by 1944. In 1949 she purchased the company and named it Adele Simpson, Inc. She is known for creating practical, wearable designs. He husband, Wesley Simpson, designed many of her fabrics. (Vintage Fashion Guild
