Pyrus serotina, Japan Sand Pear: This shows six fruits all gathered from one tree. Note the variation in the calyx, varying from deciduous to fruits with one, two, three, four, and five persistent calyx lobes. This indicates that this type is of hybrid origin. Photographed in the Rogue River Valley, Oregon, October 1918.
