- Linus Pauling was bestowed with an honorary Doctor of Science degree at Oregon State Agricultural College in June 1933. He was an alumni of Oregon State (Class of 1922) and later in his career a two-time Nobel Prize winner (Chemistry, 1954; Peace, 1962). Dr. Kenneth W. Hedberg is seated on stage in background. Kenneth Hedberg was a student of Linus Pauling and a Professor of Chemistry from 1956-1987.
