In 1894, a wooden school building was moved to Bluff St. (today's 12th St.) from Union St. and named East Hill School. A more solid structure was built a few years later. The name was changed to Joseph G. Wilson Elementary School in 1925. A primary wing was added in 1951. The first public kindergarten in The Dalles was established in 1974 and a kindergarten wing was added in 1988. Joseph G. Wilson was closed as a K-6 school in 1995

William Harman - 1870 - No image available William Harman, a native of England, was a Blacksmith by profession. He was very active in the Cause of Temperance. ""Father"" Harman, as he was known locally, died in The Dalles in 1890 at age 86.No image available

Description
Lampreys clinging to rocks, while resting on their up river journey. A lamprey has no vertebrate backbone like an eel. The current carries them along, and they rest by hanging to rocks with their cups on their mouths.
