1909 Marion - Four cylinder, 40 horsepower. Sold for $3,500 and was called a Gentle Roadster in newspaper ads. Prominence of Firestone tires in pictures of antique cars is acceptable to manufacture the obsolete sizes required on the antiques.

""Note This 14-Horsepower Outfit of Long Ago"" Central Oregon freighters of pioneer days made certain that their cargoes got through, rain or shine, snow or mud. This unidentified 14-horse outfit had been bucking deep snow on a Central Oregon road, in the Jackpine country.

""In the Era When ""Skinners"" Ruled Roads"" When Shaniko was still end of the rails and the jump-off point to isolated Central Oregon, the above scene was common on the long roads into the interior country. Pictured here are five freight teams on the long road. Freight teams were still common on mid-Oregon roads for a number of years after the railroads reached Bend, on 1911.

Dick Watson - 33 years of Service From Deckhand to Engineer; Dick Watson, a crewman on the barge Bannock, holds rescue rope he threw to H.G. Pulliam, 411 F. Avenue, North Richland, who died about 20 minutes after his rescue near the Snake River bridge Wednesday evening. Watson, of The Dalles, said his mother, Mrs. Iris Huet, lives at 7927 West Harris, near the Richland ""Y"".
