Andrew S. McClure (1829-1898) traveled from Kansas to Oregon in 1853. The collection consists of two typed transcriptions of his journal, chronicling that journey.
The 1852 overland journal which Duniway kept as her family crossed the plains to Oregon. Abigail's journal was the basis of her 1859 novel, Captain Gray's Company, which was the first commercially printed novel in Oregon.
