Known as the OSU Folk Club today, the College Folk Club was established in 1908 as a social and service club for OAC’s faculty wives and female faculty members. This image is likely set within the Women's Building.
The Women's Building was completed in 1926 and was designed by architect John V. Bennes of Portland. Bennes designed more than 20 OSU campus buildings, which were constructed during the 1910s to 1930s. The Women's Building was his only campus commission as a result of an open competition. It was considered by many to be his masterpiece. It was designed as a physical education facility for women and presently houses the College of Health and Human Performance with classes for both men and women.
