Don Tollefson is standing back as Tim Vollmer throws the discus. Tim Vollmer, from Portland's Benson High School, placed 2nd in the NCAA championships in 1969 and 1970 and was All American both years. He was team co-captain in 1969; most improved athlete in 1968 and most inspirational athlete in 1969. Vollmer's best throw was 204'2" in 1968 and 1969. He went on after graduation to the U.S. National Championships and was on the 1972 Olympic Team.
