Young served for a short term as acting president from 1969-1970. He also served as Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies through 1977. Janet E. Young (right) was the daughter of Roy Young and graduated from Oregon State University in 1974. She was later chief of staff of the director's office of Los Alamos National Laboratory.
