Norman E. Borlaug (left) was a wheat researcher and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970. Ernest J. Briskey (center) was the Dean of Agricultural Science from 1979-1987 and professor of Animal Sciences from 1987-1998.
OSU Vice President John Byrne introduces Distinguished Service Award recipient Norman Borlaug at commencement. John V. Byrne came to Oregon State University as an Associate Professor of Marine Geology in 1961, becoming the Chairman of the Oceanography Department in 1968. Byrne was the OSU president from 1984-1995.
