Starker helped Corvallis gain Avery Park and was made a member of the Oregon State Board of Forestry by Governor Mark Hatfield in 1962.

Wilbur Louis Powers (second from right) was a Professor of Soils at Oregon State College from 1909-1953. Mabel C. Mack (right) completed a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science at Oregon State in 1928 and 1940, respectively. She was Assistant Director of the Federal Cooperative Extension Service and other roles at Oregon State from 1928-1964.
