Mike (Mickey) Riley, son of Jack Riley, played second base for the Beavers from 1980-1983. He hit over .300 for the 1982 season and came close to the school record with an 18 game hitting streak--4 less than the mark set by All-American Pete Rowe. August LeRoy Strand served as president of Oregon State University from 1942-1961. Strand helped create the Oregon State College Foundation in 1947 and introduced the idea of an OSU golf course.
