Symmetrical rectangular shapes with various wildlife animals on it using mixed media. On the bottom of the piece are fish and sealife animals, the middle of the piece features land animals, and the top has flying and gliding animals., jeanne fingerhut; 1990; fish and wildlife; oregon tapestry; mm/canvas; 5x6 feet, "I see Life as a journey, an adventure, a mystery to unravel. The challenge is to reconnect with my essential Self, my true Nature and then to express that Nature freely and joyfully as a contribution to Life. The process is a perfect circle. When I make art, I feel happy, truly alive and in touch with a sense of higher mind and higher purpose. I desire that my work be a mirror touching the uniqueness of each viewer and encouraging that Self to emerge." JEANNE FINGERHUT Jeanne Fingerhut was born in New York City, received her B.A. from Barnard College and her M.A. from the University of Paris - Sorbonne where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar. Although she painted and drew from early childhood, she did not pursue the study of art. Instead she became a teacher of foreign language specializing in phonetics and academic research. Life's events, however, led her into many artistic professions...textile design, illustration, hand-painted fashion...reminding her that painting and drawing were her greatest source of pleasure and expression. And so, while raising three sons and working in the fields of art, music and language, she painted consistently and showed her work in New York during the 1970's. In 1983 she relocated to the Pacific Northwest to devote full energies to art. Her work has expanded to include all varieties of mixed media, cut-out collage paintings and, most recently, hand colored etchings which reveal her interest in strong composition, juxtaposed pattern and design craftsmanship. Her art is included in private, corporate and public collections in the United States and abroad. Ms. Fingerhut died in 2002. Low outcrop covered with images of animals, mostly running. At least one image (far right) was done at a much later time. Within a hidden draw, south side of the valley, east end of complex.
Scene with many figures all executed in the same hand: a large yak, a variety of animals, a spirit figure (bell-shaped) and what may be a dwelling. On the upper surface of a massive, tumbled boulder.
Surface high on eastern ridge of Shiveet Khairkhan with a variety of images: hunter, upper left, from the Bronze Age; two figures in combat, left (Bronze Age); large yak with load and goats (Late Bronze Age); stylized ibex with curled horn (Early Iron Age).
Images pecked on broken rock faces, including a Bronze Age hunter (upper left), a Bronze Age horse and bull (lower center) and a variety of other images.
Stone with variety of animals: deer, wild goats and sheep, bulls, and loaded bull (?) with large tail (?) in upper right. This boulder has been lost since the photograph was taken.
Group of animals of which the three largest are probably by the same hand: stag on left, followed by dogs or wolves, two long-horned yak, one unfinished. On horizontal surface of outcrop.
Large scene with many animals, at least two frontal figures with arms raised, one holding a large throwing stone (?). Connecting paths seem to wind through the composition and should be compared with a scene in Tsagaan Gol (RA_PETR_TG_0817). On red, deeply scraped outcrop partially obscured by lichen, on lip of West Ritual site.
Large scene with frontal figures, variety of animals, several large water birds, and possibly two figures in combat above. On long, sloping surface with much of the pecking muted from wear.
Large surface covered with a variety of animals, both wild and domesticated. In lower left, a man with a large hanging object (throwing stone?). In upper left, a stylized, more recent animal. In center, an almost invisible, scraped, frontal female figure.
Fallen block with running animals on two different surfaces. All but one of the images (the clumsy horse on the right) were executed by the same hand. The surface on the right has retained the original darkened skin, while that on the left must have lost that surface before the images were pecked.
Outcrop in broken sections covered with variety of elements, including three hunters and a number of finely pecked animals. Note spalled sections of hardened, darkly varnished crust.
