An interior photograph of a European-American man, identified as Lee Moorhouse, standing in a room filled with Native American ceremonial objects and general artifacts. The man is holding a rifle in his right hand with the rifle base leaning on the floor. He is attired in European-American clothing with a hat, necktie, vest, shirt, jacket, trousers and shoes. Two walls of the room can be discerned. The wall to the left of the man shows an open door to what appears to be a small storage cabinet. There is a book on the cabinet and a paper attached to the open door. Behind the cabinet are two chairs, one of which is a rocking chair. Behind the chairs is what appears to be a couch; there is a Native-American blanket laying on it. All along the left wall are various Native American artifacts, including a headdress and hand drums. There is a deer's head mounted on the wall with a painting or photograph under it. To the right of the man is a full size deer mount. Behind the man and mounted deer are various tables and a chair. On the rear wall are hung three American flags, two of which show 48 stars. Below the flags are various Native American artifacts, mounted antlers, and several swords. Description
An interior photograph of two men sitting in a room with a stove in the foreground. The men are seated in chairs, with the man on the left side of the photograph holding a book in his left hand. The men are sitting to the left of the stove, which appears to be cast iron. The stove door is open, showing decorative details. On the wall behind the men is an assortment of photographs, most of which appear to be of Native American subjects. Some of the photographs are mounted in carved frames. There are 24 fully visible pictures, and one picture partially hidden behind the stove pipe. Also on the back wall are four bookcases, three of which are bookcases with clear-glass fronts. There are two deer heads mounted on the rear wall, below the pictures. Behind the men are two desks with stacks of papers and books on them and a large attaché case sitting on top of the books. On the far bottom left of the photograph, portions of a slatted bench seat, a table with miscellaneous items on it, and a chair can be seen. On the left is a wall with assorted implements hanging. Description
A black and white photograph of an old Native American woman sitting on a wooden ladderback chair in front of the door of a wooden building. The door is shut and the doorknob and keyhole visible. The woman wears a gingham dress which buttons up the front, with a dark belt or tie around her waist which has a fringe at its end. There is a tear in the dress behind her right shoulder. Her graying hair hangs in front of her in skinny braids, and she wears a long necklace of large, rounded, dark and light beads. On her left knee she holds an openwork basket that has a zigzag design and possibly beading and a hank of wool or twine wrapped around its handle. On her right knee is a partly-woven item with its tangled ends hanging free.
