Head Scarf (Gutra) of plain woven white and green cotton with green bands intersecting at each corner; added weave of green plant-like motifs that look like grain or seeds; trimmed at the ends with colorful tassels; worn by men in the mountain regions of Saudi Arabia. Head wraps were worn by Bedouin men to protect them from the elements. They also used the cloth to filter water from wells that were full of sand and dirt.
Obi of pale yellow satin damask with a geometric pattern; obi is embroidered with flowers in orange, greens, and blues silk floss with accents of metallic thread. Student, Chiyono Matsushima, completed this embroidery through 19 credit hours of embroidery class.
